Restricting the use of tanning beds among minors could save thousands of lives.
Data shows that indoor tanning before the age of 35, significantly increases the risk of melanoma - the most deadly type of skin cancer.
That's why the FDA has proposed an age restriction banning children under 18 from using tanning beds.
A new study from the Centers for Disease Control estimates the policy could present 62,000 melanoma cases and over 6,000 deaths from the disease.
It would also save more than $300 million in melanoma treatment costs.
