Scientists say they now have a better idea of how stress might cause strokes or heart attacks.
A new Harvard study found the key is in the amygdala or the fear center of the brain. Scans from roughly 300 people showed that people with more activity in that region, were more likely to have a serioues stroke or heart event over the next several years.
Activity in the amygdala was also linked to inflammation in the arteries, which may explain these findings.
