The community joined FOX 47 News and Sarah Swistak for the 2nd annual #SWISStrong hair cutting event on Saturday, August 13 at Protégé Academy in East Lansing in honor of Sarah's brother, Steve Swistak.
Attendees of the event were encouraged to donate hair and money as well as enjoy a haircut, prizes, card making and food. They were also able to check out informational booths from cancer support services such as American Cancer Society, Another Look Hair Institute, Lotus Life Counseling, the Ingham County Health Department and Hope Scarves.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the American Cancer Society, while hair donations were given to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
The event raised more than $1,600 in donations and over 40 hair donations.
