Children at Wacousta Elementary School in the Grand Ledge School District will finally have a few playground to experience.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Sunday evening at the new playground built known as "Dream Depot 2.0".

The elementary school had been without a playground for about a year after the original "Dream Depot" was torn down due to safety concerns.

Volunteers spent about a year fundraising over $200,000 to build the 8,000 square foot structure.

"The response from the community has been overwhelming," said Theresa Koenigsknescht. "You watch all the participation in inclement weather we've built in and yet there was never a gripe or a groan, they had a smile on their face and commitment in their eyes."

The playground was built over the span of just five days.
