Sparrow Nurse to receive Outstanding Latino Caregiver Award

EVENT: For the second year, we are recognizing the Outstanding Latino Caregivers at Sparrow and McLaren Hospitals. It is an opportunity to publicly recognize Latino Caregivers for the significant difference they make in patients' lives and for their extraordinary service at each local hospital. Recipients of the awards have been nominated by their co-workers or patients and hosen by joint hospital and Lansing Latino Health Alliance committees.

WHEN: Tuesday, March 20. The ceremony runs from 2:30-4 p.m. Media is invited to attend at 2 p.m. in order to conduct interviews beforehand with recipients and leaders of the Lansing Latino Health Alliance. There will also be time at the conclusion of the program to conduct interviews.

WHERE: Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing. The ceremony is in the Executive Conference Room.

The Lansing Latino Health Alliance was founded as an advocacy organization in 2003 with the mission of raising the health status of Latinos in the greater Lansing area. Since 2003 the Alliance has informed the community and policy makers of health discrepancies and health needs of Latinos, has advocated for change and improvement, and has testified before Legislative committees on these issues. The Alliance has regularly collaborated with both hospitals on numerous projects.
