Eating fruits and vegetables have a lot of health benefits both physically and mentally.

A new study released Thursday revealed we should be eating at least ten servings of both a day, and we all know that can be expensive.

Angie Perez, garden expert and greenhouse manager for Lansing Gardens, says there are a lot of different things you can do for minimal costs when it comes to growing your own food at home.

One way to cut costs is by using container gardens.

"For people that live in the city; it's a real big thing to do," she said. "It conserves space."

The costs are minimal - a container to put your plants in, a package of seeds, and some soil.
