The Salvation Army Capital Area just got a big boost in its biggest fundraiser of the year.

Someone donated $15,000 to the Red Kettle Campaign last week. The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, hopes the gift will inspire others to give to the charity this holiday season.

Red kettles will be out through December 23. All the money collected will help people keep the heat on, provide family dinners and other basic needs for families across the Capital Area.

There are several ways you can make a monetary donation to The Salvation Army Capital Area:
• Drop your dollars or spare change in a red kettle at a local retailer
• Text your donation from your mobile device “salansing” to 41444
• Donate online by visiting www.salansing.org and click on the red ‘Donate now’ button
• Mail a check to: The Salvation Army Capital Area, 525 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Lansing, MI 48912

The Salvation Army is also still looking for volunteer to man the red kettles. If you're able to help, contact Jon Curtis, volunteer coordinator, at (517) 482-9715, ext. 28, or email jon_curtis@usc.salvationarmy.org.
