MASON, Mich. — Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter has a monthly adoption incentive program called Project Family (Free Adoptions of Mutts & Meows Inspiring Loving Years). For the month of August, 2019, ICACS is promoting adoptions for both blood donors, and area Red Cross workers. There is a national blood shortage, according to the American Red Cross website there is less than a three day supply of most blood types available.

ICACS will be hosting a blood drive on August 23rd in the Community Room at the new Animal Shelter facility in Mason. The Red Cross strongly encourages scheduling appointments for this event and others like it. You can visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time to find a donation location near you. This incentive program is focused on the need for human blood donors.

ICACS wants to support the American Red Cross and their local efforts by providing the Project Family adoption incentive to blood donors, and American Red Cross workers. Free adoptions through Project Family will be offered to employees, and donors. A dog license must still be purchased when applicable. Donors can either bring in a voucher card as provided from area donation sites, or show a confirmation email of an upcoming appointment to be eligible. Red Cross employees and associated volunteers are also eligible with Red Cross identification.

For more information on discounted adoption fees or other programs at Ingham County Animal Control, contact the shelter at 517-676-8370, visit the ICAC website at www.ac.ingham.org, or visit the shelter at 600 Buhl St. in Mason.
