OLIVET, Mich. — Olivet College guitarist Justin Hatt will perform his Senior Recital Sunday, April 14 at 4 p.m. The event will be held at in the Upton Conservatory Recital Hall at Olivet College, 502 S. Main St., Olivet, Michigan. There is no cost to attend.
“The recital is unique because to my knowledge, it’s been some time since Olivet has had a senior recital for a guitar music major,” Hatt said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to play for friends and family and show people that classical guitar is so interesting, elegant and beautiful. It is something very special.”
Hatt will perform a variety of classical guitar pieces ranging from the 17th century through the 20th century. Pieces will include work from composers Francisco Tárrega, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Matteo Carcassi and more.
“Justin is one of the most goal-oriented students I’ve seen, especially when it comes to playing the guitar,” Ramona Kime, adjunct professor of music, said. “He pushes himself to learn more repertoire, he takes the initiative to perform in a number of venues, and he thinks long-term when it comes to career, graduate school and networking.”
