Chick-fil-A mania hits Mid-Michigan again. A second restaurant is opening in Okemos next Thursday and once again the first 100 adults inside the new location will win free food for a year.
Chick-fil-A confirms the grand opening for the Okemos restaurant located at 2055 W. Grand River Avenue (in front of Meijer) is March 30 at 6 a.m.
This is Mid-Michigan's second Chick-fil-A to open in less than a year. The first one opened in Delta Township last October. There are also new restaurants in Troy, and West Michigan. The Okemos location is owned by Nick Biggee who says “Our goal as we bring Chick-fil-A to our community is to provide a remarkable experience for every customer, by serving food our guests can truly feel good about eating, providing sincere hospitality and being a good neighbor.”
There is just as much hype over the Chick-fil-A opening in Okemos as it was for the Delta Township store. The fast food franchise has a tradition of people camping out for its grand openings. The first 100 adults inside on opening day will receive a digital card loaded with free meals for a year including a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, medium waffle potato fries and a medium beverage. To qualify for the free meal deal, customers have to live in the community, within a 30-mile radius of the restaurant. A list of eligible zip codes and rules can be found at www.chick-fil-a.com/Locations/Openings.
The line for those hoping to win free food for a year officially opens at 6 a.m. on March 29th. If more than 100 people are there when the line officially opens at 6 a.m., a drawing will be held to randomly select the First 100. Those chosen will be required to camp out until the grand opening on March 30th in order to secure their spot. Biggee is inviting those who are in waiting in line to help package 10,000 meals for the Greater Lansing Food Bank at 1 p.m. on March 29.
Community members will also have a chance to not only try to win free food, but to also donate children's books to St. Vincent Catholic Charities. New and gently used children's books will be collected at the Okemos Chick-fil-A between March 30- and April 1.
