Teach.Talent.Thrive. (T3), the Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN), and Capital Region Career Links have launched a collaborative partnership to introduce the MI Bright Future career tools to create a vibrant talent pipeline in the capital region.
With thousands of jobs going unfilled in the capital region and 70% of the jobs requiring a postsecondary degree or credential, T3 and area school districts are facilitating connections between businesses and education to build the talent pipeline.
“Key industries in our region like advanced manufacturing, insurance, health care, and information technology are struggling to find qualified talent to fill available jobs,” stated Bob Trezise, President of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership. “Aligning business and education around the goal of career readiness will result in a stable and prepared workforce, and stronger economy.”
MI Bright Future provides a safe, free, one-stop place for employers to connect with their future workforce, accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.
It’s a digital platform that links businesses with local students to opportunities like job shadowing, internships and company tours. Employers can nourish their talent pipeline by providing content, mentoring and sharing valuable knowledge with local students particularly those involved with local career and technical education programs.
MI Bright Future is an added feature within Career Cruising Inspire, an individualized student portal that helps students discover career options, build resumes, and create their career goals and the steps along their path.
This fall Eaton Regional Education Services Agency (RESA) and the Lansing School District rolled out training for their staff to support students to utilize MI Bright Future in the classroom. Students are initially connecting to local professionals to learn more about the careers and occupations. As businesses sign on to the system, students will be matched with companies for internships, apprenticeships, or job shadowing.
“MI Bright Future has been part of our regional vision to facilitate student career exploration and exposure,” remarked Michele Strasz, co-chair of the T3 Program Committee and executive director of the Capital Area College Access Network. “We are excited to engage our business partners to offer work-based learning experiences for students to help them learn more about the connection between their postsecondary education and a future career.”
