MASON, Mich. — Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter will be hosting an all-cat adoption event the weekend of August 17th from 11am-6pm and 18th from 11-3pm at the Frandor Shopping Center (428 Frandor Ave) thanks to Corr Commercial. Potential adopters or visitors can anticipate a large selection of adoptable cats inside the “store” located next to the Party City store in the Frandor Shopping Center.

This is the 3rd year ICAC has hosted this great volunteer run event as a recap towards the end of our busiest cat intake season at the shelter. During the summer months the shelter always seems a drastic increase in cat intakes whether owner surrendered, brought in as stray, or born at the shelter. In July the shelter took in around 277 cats, leaving the shelter with the responsibly of finding great homes. The Meow Luau will be a great opportunity for anyone looking to add a furry feline to their family.

Potential adopters are able to “Name Your Price” on adoption fees. This same special is being help at the shelter location in Mason as well. The “Pick Your Price” adoption special still requires the regular adoption application process, but once an adopter is approved, they can chose what to pay for their adoption fee. It can be $5, $20, or even to adopt for free.

“This is the third year we are hosting the Meow Luau at Frandor. It’s always a fun time to get adoptable animals out to new locations, and the volunteers work so hard to get as many cats adopted to new homes as possible” says volunteer coordinator Lauren Yunker. The shelter has an active volunteer program, and it’s only with volunteer assistance that they are able to make these events possible. ICACS holds volunteer orientations twice a month. If you are unable to adopt or volunteer at this time, please consider donating to the shelter. Donations can go towards food, medical care, sponsoring adoptions, or other shelter needs.

All adoptions are subject to normal approval procedures and restrictions including an adoption application, interview, and proof of landlord permission for renters. All pets are available on a first come, first served basis and all pets adopted from the Ingham County Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Reduced fee adoptions are made possible through the generous donations of pet loving citizens of Ingham County. Special thanks to Blaze Pizza (Lansing) and Noodle & Co (East Lansing) for providing meals for the volunteers.
