At the National FFA Convention & Expo last week, it was announced that former Mason student, Adrian Schunk has been elected by delegates to serve as the Vice President of the National FFA Eastern Region.
Adrian Schunk was an active member of the Mason FFA chapter prior to graduation. She is now a communications major at Michigan State University.
Mason High School principal, Lance Delbridge said, “this is an amazing honor for Adrian and we are proud that she is an alumnus of Mason’s FFA program. Under Pete Barnum’s leadership, this group of students and alumni continue to excel in positive ways. Congratulations to Adrian for this outstanding accomplishment.”
Each state nominates one student to be considered for a National officer position.
After the nomination, there is a rigorous selection process which narrows the candidate pool down to 21 finalists. Of the 21 finalists, 6 officers are elected.
National officers then commit to a year of service to the National FFA Organization. Each officer travels more than 100,000 miles to interact with business and industry leaders, thousands of FFA members and teachers, corporate sponsors, government and education officials, state FFA leaders, the general public, and more.
The team will lead personal growth and leadership training conferences for FFA members throughout the country and help set policies that will guide the future of FFA and promote agricultural literacy.
