Mail carriers collecting food donations Saturday for 'Stamp Out Hunger' food drive

Posted

Don't forget to set out canned or boxed food tomorrow by your mailbox. The National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food drive observes its 25th anniversary Saturday. Letter carriers will be collecting non-perishable food for Mid-Michigan families in need.

This is the largest food drive of the year for Mid-Michigan, and the food collected tomorrow will be donated to the Greater Lansing Food Bank to distribute to families in need. Organizers say spring is especially critical for food donations because school is about to let out, and many children will lose access to free meals during the summer months.

Mail carriers will be collecting non-perishable food donations from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday. Residents who would like to donate can leave food donations in a bag by their mailbox, and the letter carrier will collect it.
