Lost Railway Museum receives a grant from The Weatherwax Foundation for $50,000

The Lost Railway Museum is pleased to announce it has received a $50,000 grant from the Weatherwax Foundation. These funds will support the continued restoration of Interurban Car #47 and ongoing renovations to the building located at 142 W. Michigan Ave. in Grass Lake.  The Theatre/Banquet room will be named after the foundation.

Most Interurban systems started in the late 19th century and only operated until the late 1920’s. A very short lifespan for such a significant industry that grew quickly and died just as fast. Most people alive today have never heard of the Inter-Urban system. It is the Lost Railway.

“The Lost Railway Museum Board of Directors, the committee and the many volunteers are incredibly grateful to have been awarded this grant from the Weatherwax Foundation”. Said Phil Willis, Chair of the Lost Railway Board of Directors.

The Weatherwax Foundation provides funds to promote and support successful community programs, classical culture and arts, family strengthening, and focused education, in the greater Jackson area and, to a lesser extent, in Hillsdale and Lenawee counties.
