LANSING, Mich. — Modern Woodmen of America members in Okemos are doing their part to help the community. The group will sponsor a fundraiser on Wednesday, October 2nd, 11am-9pm, to benefit The Greater Lansing Food Bank.
The fundraiser, which will take place at MEAT BBQ, 1224 Turner Rd. Lansing, MI, will include: Enjoying a tasty meal at MEAT BBQ! Meat will be matching a portion of the proceeds to the matching fund.
Up to $2,500 of the money raised will be matched by Modern Woodmen through Modern Woodmen's Matching Fund Program. The funds will be used to purchase supplies and new shelving for the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
The Matching Fund Program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the chance to show their support for a community cause, organization or individual in need through fundraisers. These fund-raising projects contribute more than $10 million community needs across the country each year.
"With this project, every dollar truly counts," says Grace Braatz-Opper, local Modern Woodmen volunteer leader. "It's exciting to be involved in a project that is so important to our community."
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, the fraternal financial services organization's Summit chapters, chapters and youth service clubs provide opportunities for members to take part in social and educational activitites and volunteer projects to meet local needs.
For more information or to get involved, contact Braatz-Opper at 517-227-5199, grace.c.braatz-opper@mwarep.org.
