JACKSON, Mich. — Leadership Jackson is the professional development program of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and aims to prepare individuals for leadership roles in various business, civic, citizen and nonprofit organizations within the Jackson community.
Matt Swartzlander, Director of Events and Legislative Affairs and the program’s coordinator said, “The goal of the program is for participants to gain a heightened awareness concerning the Jackson community, its needs and issues.”
Participants selected a nonprofit organization to support with a community service project. One of the more ambitious groups have selected to hold a fundraiser for Jackson School of the Arts called “For the Love of the Arts.”
This event will be held on February 9 at the Cityview Ballroom in the Commonwealth Commerce Center. The evening includes dinner, dancing and entertainment by the Detroit Flyhouse Circus School and interactive art. Executive Director Kim Curtis said, “We greatly appreciate the work of the enthusiastic committee members who are helping us share our vision to create a dynamic downtown center for the arts with new audiences.”
Leadership Jackson participant Rachel Garrett who is Assistant Branch Manager at Flagstar Bank said, “This is one event where you don’t want to come fashionably late. The entertainment and excitement begins when the doors open.”
