LANSING, Mich. — LCC has been designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) through academic year 2024 by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

“Your ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure,” said Karen Leuschner, National CAE Program Manager at National Security Agency.

To gain this elite status LCC had to meet certain criteria and provide a series of services including program guidance and oversight; general cyber defense information, and the development of collaboration and outreach opportunities among students, faculty, and other institutions.

LCC President Brent Knight said, “Lansing Community College continues to excel in providing cutting-edge programs that address problematic skill shortages. This national designation confirms that we are creating solutions that will lead to a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting industry demands. It’s all about our graduates getting great jobs and great compensation.”

Our cyber defense program is designed to increase understanding of the technology, policy and practices that will enable our nation to effectively prevent and respond to a catastrophic cyber event. LCC’s Center for Cybersecurity will contribute significantly to the advancement of state-of-the-art cyber defense knowledge and practices.
