LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - Some students at one high school put their books away Friday and rolled up their sleeves to help others.
It's the 13th year students Lansing Catholic High School spent the day working on service projects around town. It all started with a rally to get everyone excited about the difference they'll make. Then students and teachers parted to get to work on more than 40 projects. The goal was to give 2,000 hours of community service in one morning.
Stacia Devries, Service Coordinator at Lansing Catholic High School said, "Instead of going to classes today we spent the day going out and doing service. Serving the Greater Lansing community, trying to figure out what our talents are and how to share them with the wider community."
The staff hopes students will see the difference they can make -- even with a small task.
