LANSING, Mich. — Lake Trust Credit Union demonstrated its commitment to the community as part of the credit union’s Moved By Good Day on October 14, 2019, by donating $1,000 each to Ele’s Place of Lansing, Greater Lansing Food Bank, City Rescue Mission and the Firecracker Foundation, and its team members from the city and surrounding area contributed their time on site to help out the organizations during the day.

Instead of the traditional Columbus Day holiday, more than 350 Lake Trust Credit Union team and family members across Michigan provided more than 1,500 combined hours at 26 locations to help address basic human needs causes for the underserved for the credit union’s second Moved By Good Day.

“Lake Trust’s continued support has a lasting impact on our families. For a child to receive services here at Ele’s Place, it costs $500 per year. One school group is $2500. We receive no government funding. Often families have lost a spouse’s income or may have tremendous medical bills. We want there to be no worry about how they will pay for family grief support,” said Kristine Kuhnert, Ele’s Place capital region director. “The current statistic is one in 12 children by the age of 18 will experience the death of a parent or sibling. That equates to 12,120 minors in the tri-county region. We are incredibly grateful for the financial support that assists us in providing our peer-to-peer support programs.”

In addition to its ongoing dedication to the Greater Lansing Food Bank and City Rescue Mission, Lake Trust welcomed the opportunity to help the Firecracker Foundation that seeks to heal child survivors of sexual assault. Also, the credit union partnered with Operation Warm to distribute new winter coats for children at

Lansing’s Gardner International Magnet School in addition to schools in Detroit and Holland.
