Even though the shelter will be closed Monday, Sept 3rd for Labor Day, the animals will be able to celebrate all week with a discounted adoption special. September 1st through 7th all pets will have their adoption fee discounted to encourage the public to bring home a new forever family member. Dog adoption fees are from $25-$50, and cats are all $10 or less. While puppies are generally not housed at the shelter, there are many kittens available in the “Kitty High Rise ”room, a special kitten area at the shelter just for our youngest felines.

“Right now we have nearly 30 dogs and nearly 50 cats on the adoption floor waiting for their forever home,” says ICACS Interim Deputy Director Kate Turner. “With so many here, plus more in foster homes waiting for their opportunity to be adopted, spreading the word is very important. Since summer is drawing to a close and families schedules starting to fall back into a routine, this can be a great time to bring in a new pet.”

Although adoption fees are reduced, donations to help pay for the care of the animals are always welcome. Dogs and cats adopted from Ingham County Animal Control are spayed or neutered, have received a vet exam and age appropriate vaccines and are microchipped. If you are not in a position to permanently adopt a new pet, please consider becoming a volunteer or foster parent.

All adoptions are subject to normal approval procedures and restrictions including an adoption application, interview, and proof of landlord permission for renters. All pets are available on a first come, first served basis and all pets adopted from the Ingham County Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Reduced fee adoptions are made possible through the generous donations of pet loving citizens of Ingham County.
