The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Jackson Public School (JPS) on their Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cascades Elementary on Tuesday, June 18. The event took place at the 1200 S Wisner Jackson MI 49202.
The Groundbreaking Ceremony featured the music from the Jackson High School band and a few words from Mayor Derek Dobies.
The new Cascades Elementary School will be a state-of-the-art facility that will feature a media center, flexible seating, updated security features, 21st century learning and more. This development is funded by the $86.7 million bond that voters passed in May 2018. Students from the former Cascades were combined with Frost Elementary School for the start of the 2018/2019 school year so that the demolition of the old Cascades building could take place in early spring 2019. The new building is a $16 million project and the new Cascades is slated to be opened in the fall of 2021.
“We are proud to be able to begin the building of Cascades Elementary and look forward to all the future projects of the JPS Bond.” said Kriss Giannetti, Jackson Public Schools’ Director of Communications.
