Inspiring audiences on an international level since their inception in 2011, this New York City-based company is committed to empowering and engaging minds. Nine dancers strong, JESSICA LANG DANCE blends visionary design elements with spellbinding choreography. This company performs their diverse repertoire at premier venues including the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and Jacob’s Pillow. Wharton Center is proud to present this evening’s performance, This Thing Called Love, which is an exquisite tribute to Tony Bennett: his artwork is projected during choreography set to his music. The evening will also include the ballet styled Lyric Pieces, a new work titled us/we, and The Calling, one of their signature numbers.
Oregon ArtsWatch praises the celebrated choreographer and artistic director, Jessica Lang, with a glowing review: “The gasps from the audience came at moments when we had been following the structures the whole company was negotiating, only to see them dissolve into unexpected, fluid acrobatics before moving on to the next formation. To me this is a sign of a choreographer who really knows her medium.”
This stellar company will be disbanded this upcoming April after seven strong years. Do not miss your last chance to see the incredible JESSICA LANG DANCE.
