The Head Start pre-school program is expanding in Mid-Michigan.
It's going to be opening a new location on Miller Road in South Lansing that will have space for 104 kids.
Head start is also going with seven hour days for 146 days a year.
That's twice as many hours and an extra 18 days.
Organizers say the children will benefit from it.
"We know the longer that children are in school the better they are prepared for the future and so it gives us much more of an opportunity for children to learn additional vocabulary, letters, begin reading, learn numbers, be better prepared for school," said Head Start Director Lucy McClintic.
The plan is to have the Head Start calendar more in-sync with the K-12 school year.
