HDSA’s Great Lakes Region is hosting a Huntington’s disease fundraising event called the Lansing Michigan Team Hope Walk on Saturday, September 21st from 9:00AM-2:00PM at Granger Meadows Park. The Team Hope Walk Program is HDSA’s signature grassroots fundraising campaign designed to provide hope and support for those touched by this devastating disease.
This is a great event to cover as we need Huntington’s disease (HD) awareness to be mentioned more in the news as the HD parity Act is being re-introduced to Congress. This bill is a game changer for the HD Community as this will allow HD patients not to wait two years for Medicare benefits as they can receive it once they qualify for disability. In Michigan, the HD population is more than 7,000.
