Haslett Beautification Association accepting design ideas

The Haslett Beautification Association (HBA) is accepting design ideas until the end of April for the “Triangle by the Lake” project it initiated last year to convert a one-time eyesore into a gateway to downtown Haslett.

The project seeks to re-imagine the one-third acre property strategically located on the northern entrance to the Haslett four-corner commercial district (Haslett and Marsh Roads) with flowers, plantings and other aesthetic improvements. HBA has been soliciting plans and ideas over the winter from individuals, artists, gardeners, landscapers, students and community members.

Prospective applicants can submit plans and ideas until April 30, 2017. The best ideas and designs will help inspire future plans for the property.

A final plan may be adjusted for practical considerations such as reasonable development costs or to maintain site visibility along adjoining roadways, said HBA President Teri Banas. “We’re looking for inspiration and a plan that offers a cool theme and design,” she added. “Ultimately, we’re hopeful the community will step up to help donate funds or supplies to make it a reality.” Contest guidelines are found online at www.beautifyhaslett.com.
