MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Kids can embark on a new adventure at the Harris Nature Center (3998 Van Atta Rd) in Meridian Township on Saturday, February 8th. Mushing Camp for Kids is an opportunity for participants to learn all about the Samoyed dog breed, and the history of the Iditarod as well as the sport of dog sledding. The class runs from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

“The instructors will have their Samoyed dogs here for the program and participants will learn how to harness them and hook the dogs up to the sled,” said Senior Park Naturalist Kati Adams. “Kids will love spending time with the dogs!”

Adams advises participants to dress appropriately for the weather and leave their own dogs at home. The fee is $10/ person and the class is for kids only. Space is limited, so contact 517.349.3866 to register today.
