Break the winter monotony with a walk in nature using snowshoes. Join a naturalist at the Harris Nature Center, 3998 Van Atta Road, in Meridian Township on Sunday, February 10th at 2 pm for a guided walk in the winter sunshine. The fee is $3/person if you bring your own equipment or choose to walk without snowshoes and $10/person if you borrow nature center snowshoes. Equipment to rent is limited, so, contacthnc@meridian.mi.us or 517.349.3866 to register.

“This walk is a chance for participants to try out snowshoes while they stretch their legs and breathe fresh, clean air,” said Nature Center Coordinator Kit Rich. “The naturalist will describe the signs of winter wildlife and how they survive a Michigan winter as they walk.”

Snowshoes in adult and child sizes may be rented for the walk, but participants must register ahead to insure their size is available. Participants may also choose to walk without snowshoes. The use of snowshoes is dependent on snow coverage and the walk will be held regardless of snow conditions.
