Fun for all ages at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra on September 9
AARP Michigan and the Jackson Symphony Orchestra will host a Grandparents Day event, a national holiday that honors the special bond between grandchildren and grandparents, on Sunday, September 9 in Jackson.
Free activities will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, 215 W. Michigan Avenue in downtown Jackson.
Some of the fun and interactive activities include:
* Live musical performance by Quartet Felice;
* Explore various musical eras;
* A demonstration of string instrument techniques and composition styles;
* Make instruments to take home and more.
These events recognize the important role grandparents play in families, perhaps now more than ever. Nationwide, more than 2.7 million grandparents are raising grandchildren, according to census figures -- a number that is rising across the country.
