The Meridian Garden Club broke ground for the 'Plant It Pink' project.
National Garden Clubs, Inc. is pushing members across the country to build gardens to honor the victims and survivors of breast cancer.
"They are urging communities to provide space to recognize breast cancer survivors, to provide a place of respite for people who've dealt with the disease or are in a memoriam," said Sue Nieland, 'Plant It Pink' committee chair.
The goal is to have the garden ready next year. It's being built in the Meridian Historical Village in Central Park off Marsh Road.
