LANSING, Mich. — Sam Davis, a former LCC student who took classes in 2010 and 2011 in the Digital Media, Audio, Cinema program (DMAC) has been nominated for an Academy Award.

Davis’ work; “Period. End of Sentence,” is nominated in the Documentary Short category. The 25 minute piece showcases Davis’ work in sound, cinematography and as editor.

His former professor in the DMAC program, Jeff Hamlin had this to say when asked about his former student’s success, “Sam Davis was an extremely driven student. From the moment he walked into the classroom he knew he wanted to pursue a career in the film industry and cinematography. The DMAC program provided Sam with the foundational skills necessary to start his journey; taking him from Lansing, Michigan to Hollywood, California and the ACADEMY AWARDS! Way to go Sam!”

LCC is proud of the Potterville native’s success and we will certainly be watching this Sunday, Feb. 24 as the 91st Academy Awards airs on ABC. We will all be rooting for one of our own.
