FOX 47 News and the Scripps Howard Foundation have completed their second annual "If you give a child a book" campaign in Lansing. Together, we've put more than 700 brand new books in the hands of Michigan youth.
The campaign is part of FOX 47's commitment to bringing communities closer and as you can see, great things happen when you bring people together.
We'd like to give a big shout out to FOX 47 community partner Rina Risper, Executive Director of The New Citizens Press Community Action Network (TNCPCAN), for working hard to promote literacy in the community over the past month. She helped us distribute hundreds of these books to kids... one at a time.
We'd also like to give a special thank you to Katreva Bisbee who volunteered to motivate youth and encouraged them to reach out for many fo their life goals through reading.
Finally, thank you to Community Affairs Coordinator Kevin Brown for organizing this year's local campaign and FOX 47 staff for donating money towards books.
We say YES! to community partners and volunteers!
