Firefighters will be on the streets working to raise money for a good cause in Jackson Wednesday.

Starting at 11 a.m., members of the Jackson Summit Fire Department Local 1306 will be at the intersection of West Michigan Avenue and Brown Street near the Westwood Mall to collect donations for their "Fill the Boot" campaign.

The proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Contributions also go towards MDA's summer camps for children, professional and public health education, and other programs.

The department will also be filling the boot on Thursday, Sept 27 and Friday, Sept 28 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. More than 20 members of the Jackson Summit Fire Department will greet motorists on the street, asking them to make a donation to support MDA's mission of funding research to accelerate treatments and cures, as well as caring and empowering kids and adults from day one so they can thrive.
