LANSING, Mich. — Fenner Nature Center invites everyone to participate in their 8th annual Earth Day Extravaganza, joining the worldwide efforts of 1 billion people to steward our world toward a better environmental future. On April 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., volunteers can sign up for a shift and choose how to make a positive impact on their community nature center and the local environment.

This year, volunteers can learn to identify and remove invasive species, help maintain trails, pick up trash or clear downed trees. Individuals and groups of all sizes, ages and abilities are invited to participate, Fenner’s event manager Alexa Seeger said.

“In the last 49 years, Earth Day has grown from a day of education and mobilization to one of the largest civic-focused days of action in the world,” Seeger said. “Here at Fenner, we celebrate Earth Day by practicing civic-service through the stewardship of these 134 acres entrusted to us. It is our goal to equip our community with the skills and experience to not only positively impact the park, but the world, far beyond Fenner’s gates.”
