A woman with the Lansing Fire Department will make history Thursday.
Captain Shawn Deprez will be promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief in the Fire Suppression Division.
She'll be the first female ever to be promoted to that rank in the fire department's 160 year history.
Captain Deprez has been with the Lansing Fire Department for more than 21 years.
