Family Service & Children’s Aid Ribbon Cutting

LANSING, Mich. — The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce congratulates Family Service & Children’s Aid on their Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, September 26. The event took place at their new building at 306 W. Michigan Avenue Jackson, MI 49201.

Family Service & Children’s Aid celebrated two milestones, their new building and their 75th anniversary. Attendees toured the new facility and had refreshments and snacks including a doughnut truck.

"It is both amazing and humbling to think of the difference Family Service and Children's Aid has made in the Jackson community over the course of the last 75 years. I am excited to see what the next 75 years will bring as we try to continually grow to meet the needs of our youth, adults and families!" said Dr. Bob Powell, Chief Executive Officer of Family Service & Children’s Aid.

In 1943 Children’s Aid Society opened its doors to care for homeless children by establishing foster homes, counselling, and an adoption program. In 1944 Family Service Bureau opened to help family’s stay together and build strong healthy futures. Together, they merged in 1960 to become Family Service & Children’s Aid focusing on the social service needs of children and families.

Family Service & Children’s Aid (FSCA) is a private, fully accredited, non-profit family service agency founded in 1944 to serve the emotional needs of citizens of Jackson County, Michigan. The mission of the agency is Building Strong Families and Building Strong Communities. Today the agency is a multi-service organization which serves more than 10,000 persons annually and is regarded as a vital support for individuals, families and children of any socioeconomic background who are experiencing social, emotional and family problems.

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit association of businesses and non-profits, committed to strengthening their businesses and the Jackson Community. With a proud history reaching back to 1909, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce supports its members through promotion, advocacy, collaboration, networking events and education.
