LANSING, Mich. — Impression 5 Science Center and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are hosting the fourth annual Transportation Day: Beyond the Highway at the Science Center Saturday, March 23 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Science Center will be filled with special hands-on activities and challenges celebrating the ingenuity, engineering, and material science know-how it takes to make modern transportation possible. Visitors can explore construction hardware and test the reflective nature of modern signage. Families will get to work together to construct bridges, create jewelry out of nuts and bolts, and get on track with the science of trains! Families also will get the chance to get up close and personal with an MDOT bucket truck and take mini CATA bus rides around a downtown loop!

Transportation Day is sponsored by MDOT, which is responsible for state and federal highways in Michigan, as well as the administration of funds for aeronautics, transit, rail, bicycling, and pedestrian programs. The event is free for MDOT employees and their families, as well as Impression 5 members.

Impression 5 Science Center is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. For admission prices and more information, visit impression5.org [impression5.org].
