The East Lansing Police Department is hosting its first ever open house Thursday.
Lt. Steve Gonzalez says the department is hosting the event in an effort to have positive interactions with the community.
"We hope community members of all ages will consider coming out to meet our officers and learn more about ELPD and what we do", says Gonzalez. "There will be a little something for everyone."
The event will feature demonstrations from the ELPD K9 team, a Q&A session with Police Chief Jeff Murphy, station and jail tours, vehicle displays, the ELPD bike unit, drunk goggles, children's activities, child ID kits, car seat installations, snacks and much more.
The open house is free and open to the public. It goes from 5:00 to 8:00 Thursday night at the East Lansing Police Department at 409 Park Lane. If you can't make it, ELPD plans to broadcast the event via Facebook Live.
