East Lansing bus, train station officially open

Posted

Even though buses and trains have been using CATA's new East Lansing facility for a couple of months now, it was officially opened on Monday.

It's just off Harrison Road at Trowbridge in East Lansing and replaces a beat-up Amtrak station that stood there for years.

CATA uses it too.

Representatives from the bus and train companies, as well as East Lansing agree this is better for the region's first impression.

"Trowbridge really is the gateway to Michigan State University and to the region," said Sandy Draggoo, CATA executive director. "And how it looks is just so important. When it had looked the way it did before, it was just a negative impact on how it looked to visitors coming into the area. Now it looks the way it should."

Along with serving trains and buses, the facility includes a public waiting area and ticket counters.
