LANSING, Mich. — Volunteers and business leaders in the Capital City were recognized Wednesday evening for their efforts to shape a vibrant, thriving, and diverse downtown experience as part of Downtown Lansing Inc’s (DLI) annual meeting celebration. The event was held at Lansing Brewing Company, and coordinated by DLI’s Organization Committee.

“As a volunteer-led master level main street program, Wednesday evening’s event is one of the most important events we do during the year, as it recognizes all those who share their time, talents, and passion with downtown Lansing,” stated Downtown Lansing Inc. Executive Director, Cathleen Edgerly.

Awardees for the evening included:
 Premier Partner Award: Fox 47
 Outstanding New Business Downtown: Fudge & Frosting
 Best Historic Rehab/Adaptive Reuse/New Construction Award: Tom Arnold, for the rehab of 204 E. Grand River/Cesar Chavez Auto in Old Town, transforming the building into lofts.
 Community Builder Award: Matt Hund
 Downtown Hero Award (Volunteer of the Year): Chris Lewis
 Business of the Year Award: Dewpoint

The evening was also an opportunity for Mayor Andy Schor, along with the Downtown Lansing Inc. Board of Directors, to introduce Edgerly as the new Executive Director of Downtown Lansing Inc. Edgerly had previously served as the Director of Downtown Howell’s DDA and Main Street Program.

Downtown Lansing Inc. is dedicated to making Lansing a place where people want to be, by encouraging its businesses, neighborhoods, and stakeholders to build a dynamic culture known for its vibrancy, sustainable growth, and business friendly environment.

Residents, downtown employees and business owners are always encouraged to become involved as a volunteer. For more information on how you can have a positive impact on the downtown, contact Cathleen Edgerly at cathleen@downtownlansing.org or call 517-487-3322.
