Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare their taste buds for the Downtown Chili Cook-Off, taking place Saturday, April 1 from noon-4 p.m. in downtown East Lansing. The event is free and open to the public.

During the event, community members are invited to visit participating restaurants to sample free chili and rank the samples they try in a number of different categories. In addition to bragging rights, the restaurant that receives the most points will be presented with the 2017 Golden Spoon Trophy for the Best East Lansing Chili.

“We are excited to highlight the dining options in downtown East Lansing with this great weekend event and invite all community members to join in the fun,” said East Lansing Community Development & Engagement Manager Amy Schlusler.

Additional information, including a list of participating businesses, can be found at www.downtownel.com. The chili will be served at the locations/businesses listed on the website and balloons will be affixed to the outside facades of all of the participating businesses on the day of the event.
