The East Lansing Fire Department was able to purchase two new thermal imaging cameras through donations made by MSUFCU and Kiwanis Club of East Lansing.

MSUFCU presented a gift of $6,500 to ELFD, alongside a gift of the same amount from the Kiwanis Club of East Lansing. Those donations helped fund the purchase of the cameras, and pay for orientation from the camera distributors to train firefighters on the equipment. Which includes two truck chargers, two extra batteries and a five-year full warranty on each camera and battery.

The cameras should provide high resolution images, and help firefighters locate hidden fires within structures - or locate anyone who might be trapped inside.

“We are proud to join the Kiwanis Club of East Lansing to help support the East Lansing Fire Department with these lifesaving resources,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU’s President/CEO. “With the addition of this new equipment, our firefighters are now better equipped to protect the lives and infrastructure of our community.”
