Students from Japan are experiencing America this week and are being hosted by students from DeWitt's Jr. High.
The students arrived in Detroit at about 10 a.m. Friday and kicked off their first few days in the U.S. shopping, bowling and playing laser tag.
On Sunday, the group went snow tubing at Hawk Island Park. Students participating in the program will also have the change to visit Japan to do the same thing.
"I'm also a Japanese language teacher, both at the junior high and also the high school, so that kinda helps kinda gets students involved with language and culture first and if they're interested in applying for the Japanese Exchange Program, that's what we kinda do," said Micah Cousins, coordinator of DeWitt Jr. High Exchange Program.
The students will be visiting mid-Michigan until the end of the week.
