During the week before Valentine’s Day, the students and staff at Charlotte High School worked diligently making Valentine’s Day cards for the Valentines for Veterans Program that occurs during this time every year.
Students in classes all throughout CHS took time to hand craft cards with personal messages of thanks, encouragement and well wishes for the residents in the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. The program at Charlotte High School was coordinated by the Social Studies Department and the CHS Interact Club.
The Interact Club made banners for students to sign at lunch, thanking our local veterans at the Charlotte VFW and American Legion for their service to our Nation and in conjunction with the Valentines for Veterans Program.
Over five hundred Valentine’s Day cards were sent to the Battle Creek VA Medical Center for Valentine’s Day.
According to the Battle Creek VA Medical Center’s Community and Volunteer Service Coordinator, “the cards will brighten the day of the nearly 160 inpatient veterans at the facility.” She also stated that, “veterans attending the Valentine’s Day dance at the facility will also receive the cards made by CHS students.”
This is another example of how the students and staff at Charlotte High School are trying to live by the Oriole Pride code every day. Go Orioles!
