The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Cascades Humane Society (CHS) for their Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, October 5th at 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49201.

The Ribbon Cutting celebrated the expansion to the CHS, which broke ground in March of this year. This expansion adds 1200 square feet of space to the west side of the building. The addition improves upon dog holding and the surgical suite.

“This new space was made possible by the generous Weatherwax Foundation and a bequest from a dog loving donor”, says Heather Leszczynski, Executive Director.

“We have always been extremely grateful for the Weatherwax Foundation’s support, they have been very generous to CHS. And we are grateful that a donor would think about us while finalizing their estate and planned giving. This new space will help us to house more animals. Eleven more dogs and at least 10 more cat cages will be now available in our holding areas. And more cages means more lives saved. And that is the business we are in; saving lives. We are looking forward to showing off this new space to the public. The Jackson Community has been an integral part in our success – not only the increase in adoptions, but also keeping our doors open. We are a non-profit and do not receive any government or national pet group funding so the support of the public is vital to ensuring all our animals are cared for at the level they deserve,” says Leszczynski.
