JACKSON, Mich. — The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce would like to recognize Jackson Public School (JPS) on their upcoming Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cascades Elementary on Tuesday, June 18. The event will take place at the 1226 N Wisner Jackson MI 49202 from 4 P.M. to 5 P.M. The public is invited to the groundbreaking.

This new 21st Century Learning Center will be the only one of its caliber in Jackson County. Cascades Elementary will house Preschool - 5th grade. Cascades Elementary is part of the $87 million-dollar bond passed by voters in May of 2018. Students were combined with Frost Elementary for the start of the 2018/ 2019 School year so that the demolition could be scheduled. Demolition of the old Cascades building took place over the spring. The new building is a 16-million-dollar project and the new Cascades is slated to be opened in the fall of 2021. The new building in addition to state-of-the-art safety and security will also be the only 21st learning school in the county.

“This project marks the beginning of a new Jackson Public Schools. We are grateful to the Jackson Community for making the single largest investment in the Jackson Public School District and look forward to the beautiful new 21st learning Elementary School.” said Jeff Beal, Superintendent of JPS.
