The Capital City Film Festival begins today, but it got an unofficial kick-off Tuesday night.
The festival, along with other art houses and theatre across the country, screened the George Orwell classic 1984. The message was to condemn the Trump Administrations proposed cuts to art funding. Organizers this event and the festival itself can help prove why the arts are important.
"When children come and see that and experience the emotion and the beauty, that can inspire them to do creative stuff in their own life," said Dominic Cochran, co-director of Capital City Film Festival. "We think it's absolutely essential to our community and to the world at large to support the arts."
