Canoe and Kayak Trips Open at Burchfield Park

and last updated

HOLT, Mich. — After what seems like endless rain, fallen trees, and high river levels Burchfield County Park has officially opened all of its canoe and kayak trips. All trips including McNamara, Bunker Road, Eaton Rapids Landing, and in-park rentals are open.

Burchfield County Park canoe and kayak trips offer park visitors scenic landscapes as well as wildlife viewing opportunities. Visitors have the option to rent canoes or kayaks from Burchfield’s boat house and paddle up stream then back to the park, or be dropped off at one of three different access points along the Grand River: McNamara, Bunker Road, or Eaton Rapids.

Canoe and kayak rentals are available daily from mid-May to Labor Day and on weekends only in September. In October, trips are by reservation only at specified times. In-park rentals are $6 per hour and downstream trip rates vary by location. Canoes and kayaks are available on a first-come first-serve basis; however reservations are encouraged for weekday trips and groups using nine or more boats.

To make a trip reservation or for more information please contact the Ingham County Parks office at 517-676-2233.
