Big names in men's basketball are teaming up to fight cancer.

Oakland University basketball coach Greg Kampe is joining other basketball icons like Michigan State's Tom Izzo and President of Detroit Pistons Steve Van Gundy to raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against cancer.

Their efforts shine through in this year's "Coaches Beat Cancer" event.

People are invited to bid on a variety of packages online which includes a private dinner with basketball VIPs, a night stay at MotorCity Casino Hotel on June 4 and a day of golfing on June 5 at the Oakland Hills Country Club. Winning bidders and two of their guests will get to select one of the following basketball celebrities to play alongside: Rick Barnes, Mick Cronin, Fran Fraschilla, Chris Holtmann, Tom Izzo, Greg Kampe, Steve Lavin, Frank Martin, Bill Raftery, Stan Van Gundy, or Kevin Willard.

Bidding is open from April 26 at noon to May 8 at 5 p.m.

All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
