Being a champion for the homeless in Lansing

Posted

It was a breakfast for champions Wednesday morning - Champions for the homeless, that is.

This annual event recognizes the accomplishments of the many agencies working to end homelessness in Michigan.

Champions are recognized in three categories: Community, public policy and volunteer. They must have exemplified service that had a direct impact on the issue.

The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness, a statewide non-profit organization, hosted the breakfast. They are committed to addressing homelessness and affordable housing for the homeless.

The latest homeless count in Michigan is 69,000, which is less than previous years. The Coalition's goal is to make that number zero.
